I love the lighting. It's to bad you did not have more room to work with. By this I mean bringing the subject further from the tree line and blur more of the background out.

I definately woud have cropped the rocks/road out of the foreground and maybe a little more off the left side.

...take me home...to the place...I belong...Well, well, well. Nice model, and I feel the light here serves to bring focus to her and to her somewhat pensive emotions. She sticks out because of her different tones (black and blue of clothing), and the light amplifies your communication of what she is feeling. I think.

Kind of a cool abstract. Even though it doesn't scream "Science" to me (haven't the foggiest idea what Haematology is), I like the colors and lighting and I like the clarity of the droplet (is that what it is?) so that you can see the little air bubbles floating around in there. You get points just for making me linger here trying to figure out what this is! ;-)
