The dog's face seems very well in focus but the top of the head and be neck seem to be somewhat out of focus, Did you try using an unsharpening mask?

Very sweet photo of your dog. His white coat and the black background contrast well. Subject is well focused and lighting is appropriate. You might have cropped the picture just a little too tight by cutting off the top of his head and part of his ear. As far as the challenge goes, however, I define fauna as more than the family pet.

Family pet? I was hoping that people would try and avoid this - sorry but I\'m not keen on close-ups of fluffy dogs.

On a more neutral note, I feel maybe this shot might have been expanded a tad.
