This photo has a wow factor, but it still isnt right to me (like many of my own photos are to me too). I THINK, that a tighter crop to the upper right, so the sun is in the lower and left 1/3, would be better. Why? Because while the softer water at the bottom is cool, what Really Draws me into the photo is the sun, and the clouds and by making them more of a subject in the photo (via crop) I think it would be 'right'

Sweet shot - and adorable dog - I'm not even sure what sort it is . .

To squeezer a little more out of this composition having them either both looking at the camera - or both at each other would have been good - but hey - I took a pet portrait myself - I know what it's like trying to get a pet to look where you want it too :- )

As this was pet portrait, I wish you had just included the dog and not the girl: for the quality of the photo as well, not just to "follow the rules".

nice color there, the harsh shadows in some places distract a little. i would if a ground level shot would have brought out the color and removed some of the distracting components
