Photo appears a little out of focus and is not square in the frame and I believe that you could have improved this post production. I also fine the flash reflection on the left side of the plague very off-puting.

As a "photo journalist" I think it would have been nicer to have had a wreath or a soldier with the plaque.

sorry but this photo is no good at all, the compo is bad, white balance is akward ... the color in general are missed, how to improve ? maybe take it from an angle straight below and the crop it, try different color combination, little playing around in postprocessing could make this much better ... sorry i'll give ya 3
