I kind of like the half-sun as well. Gives it a unique feel. I also like the angle created by the pole and the horizon - a level horizon would give it more impact, of course, but even as is you've got a nice 45 degree angle and that just seems so perfect and balanced to me. That angle is mirrored by the angle between the pole and the line, which gives further symmetry. This is really geometric while still being flowing (the water and the clouds) and I like that contrast a lot.

I actually really like this, the colors are great, i even like half the sun showing. Maybe a little daker blue in the sky and fix the horizon.

See if your camera has a setting specifically for sunsets or brightly lit landscapes. This may help to keep the sun from blowing up into a huge, burned out blob. If no scene setting, bump your apertue number way up (f13 or if not available, as high as it will go) and shoot until you are able to preserve color in the sky. For most landscape shots like this, don't use portrait mode (photo taller). And as others have said, fix that horizon!

The colors are beautiful and it's really a nice capture. First thing I noticed, too, was the horizon tilt. An easy fix. The half sun doesn't work for me. I'd either go landscape mode to include the whole sunset or crop it out totally and leave it portrait. Also, the edges are showing on your crop on the bottom and r/h side. :)

I agree with ursula about the horizon. Sun looks strange... not sure why, but it might be because of the position. Usually you want to keep your major elements in the picture so try and frame around the sun and fishing rod. Unless it is intentional so to make you focus on the rod. Otherwise, it is well done. I really like it, makes me think of my grandfather and our deep sea fishing trips.

Hi,

I like the muted colours, and the soft striping of the water.

One of the first things that shows up when this picture first pops-up is that the horizon line is tilted - you usually can adjust that in post-processing by rotating your image. I also get the feeling that a landscape (rather than portrait) orientation would do well for this particular kind of image.

I think probably one of the hardest things in making images is to think about what you want to say with the image. What is it that the image is all about.
