| 09/29/2005 02:36:28 PM | Tenacious Lifeby olddjComment by Tammer: For me, I find the large object on the left side distracting and the angle makes me feel like I'm about to topple over. I keep turning my head to the right so I can see this with the tree and sky in a more "normal" position. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

| 09/25/2005 08:00:43 PM | Look Who Is Coming to Dinner, from a Flea's Perspectiveby olddjComment by olddj: First of all, thanks Linda for the critique, much appreciated. Couple of points, if you do not mind, first, it is NOT through a fleas eyes, it was from it's perspective i.e. the ground, know fleas do not see much at all and a complete blur seemed silly to me. Had others without the grass, but was trying to represent a hunters view, where the grass/trees/whatever between the hunter and the hunted is blurred in the hunters mind, obviously missed on that. I honestly do not see the grainy quality, but others do, so must be something I miss, or maybe it is because it is my pic, do not know. Only thing I can think of to cause that is bringing it down from about 1300K to 150 may have done it, not sure. Will definitly work on that!! Did reduce the noise, I think I did, just got the PSP X and thought I used it on her, but maybe not. Oh well, THANKS again for the critique, and I always appreciate the comments, though I, of course, retain the right (or wrong, LOL) to disagree!!

| 09/23/2005 07:11:14 PM | Look Who Is Coming to Dinner, from a Flea's Perspectiveby olddjComment by ShutterPug: ** Greetings from the Critique Club **
This is a great idea - however the execution could have been better with a little extra work. The grass covers too much of the dog's face - you might try getting the dog in position - tell him to stay - then clear away some of the grass that obscures the facial expression, yet leaving enough to give the idea of a flea hiding in the long grasses.
One of the comments you received indicated a flea does not see this clearly - I personally have no idea if this is true or not. I do think a slight gaussian blur over the entire image might have worked as it would have drawn away attention to how OOF the grass is in the foreground. The image is a tad grainy which I would not have expected with such a low ISO. Perhaps sending it through NeatImage or a similiar program that eliminates noise would have helped out.

| 09/21/2005 05:37:55 PM | A Little Bubble Eyedby olddjComment by DianaB: Darn, I spent ages commenting on this and then got logged out - but will try to rewrite: I like the image and think it fits the challenge. The title is good and those eyes do look like bubbles. If this photo were mine I would try to capture so that the eyes were placed less closely to the frame and more to the left, so that they featured more as a point of focus - at the moment the wings seem to be the focus of attention. The surface that the insect sits on appears to slope and might benefit from levelling up in the photo manipulation software you use. I like the background which doesn't detract from the insect. I've scored this a 4, but feel that this particular image could be improved with a few careful manipulations which would turn it into a 'wow' photo. Best of luck with this in the challenge. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
