After reading all the comments, it comes to me that there are many different types of people here. One thing I am seeing is, alot of people go on the merit of the photo (technical, etc.), while others only go on a moral issue. I agree with it being a little dark, but it being in the superstitions challenge...PERFECT, because that is what it is. To me, if it causes a little emotion, along with being a good photo...I like it even more! I'd given ya a seven!!

Nice job of the selective focus to emphasize a particular American state. The use of the black background leaves room for a caption if necessary and leaves room if an editor wants to crop this to a vertical without destroying the picture.

Very clever, but I think it would have had more "punch" with a spotlight on Texas and the rest of the states blurred slightly. I love the whole idea of it!

excelent use of the color on black and white. I really like the angle and framig/cropping that you have chosen for this. the color is great. I think that the focus and clarity are great as well. nice dramatic lighting. i really like this shot. good luck in the challenge.
