Close Encountersby GeocideComment by sfalice: Greetings from the Critique Club
Great find! I don't know much about mathematics, but somehow I feel sure this has something to do with Pi!
What I do know is that I think it's just fine technically, and compositionally, it fairly leaps out of the screen at me. I very much like the little ellipse in the middle. I don't know your reason for putting the large ellipse off center vertically, but it works for me. (Although it didn't for some of our voters) You received a respectable score, in this tough Challenge and you have an image that you can enjoy.
Keep up the good work. |

Looking From Aboveby GeocideComment by timfythetoo: Greetings from the Critique CLub -
My first impression on this image was that I liked the lines. Good use of rule of thirds on the center part of the pattern as well.
Overall though there are some issues with this image that I had. The focus and sharpness of the image is a bit soft. But this is probably alot due to your initial image size from camera. I would think that having to upsize like you said you did would really affect the end quality. I think I also would have liked to have seen just a bit more on the left. I think its cropped just a bit too tight.
I think you scored right about where it should have for the FS. It doesn't have alot of WOW power and the technicals aren't the best. Looking at your portfolio I can see you do some excellent work with portraiture. I think you may have scored better with a portrait image over this entry here. Sorry I cant be more helpful. Good luck with your future entries!

Close Encountersby GeocideComment by eamurdock: This is nice, but I'd like a little more context so I can know what I'm looking at. It's a little confusing. Still, visually very nice. |

Looking From Aboveby GeocideComment by krnodil: Ever get the feeling that someone's watching you? What a great composition - I might have tried cloning out the two lights at the bottom left to keep them from distracting from the main focal point, but this is nevertheless an arresting abstract. |

Carnivoreby GeocideComment by Melethia: While I'm here in your portfolio, I thought I'd add a comment to this one - really caught my eye and kept my attention. I like the busy-ness of it and the processing - I like the harshness of it. Nicely done - great score and placement in the challenge as well. |

Proud Relicsby GeocideComment by Melethia: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Initial reaction - the first thing is of course the very strong face in the foreground, but it's the secondary that catches my eye - what's going on beyond? What's real, what isn't? It creates a very intriguing tension within the shot. The face in the foreground maintains control, however, constantly bringing you back.
Technicals are strong - good light, good conversion, great detail in the foreground subject. Appears to have met the challenge by voter standards. Lack of significant number of comments indicates to me that most voters felt it was a very good photograph - not requiring a lot of "fix this" comments or garnering a lot of "WOW" comments either. Very nice work. |
