I expect to see this in the top 10, if not a ribbon. My favorite part is the puckered texture of the water flowing around that rock in the bottom right. It's a minor detail that makes the image for me.

I think the colour and texture of the water and rocks are great. A perfect sun might have added to it, but a less than perfect capture of it rather detracts. 6

The author avoided the temptation to make the image taller than necessary and that is a significant plus. The little spots of color enhance the figured beach sand and the background is properly composed and presented increasing the images effectiveness. There is an even more effective image if the top were cropped out presenting only the beach sand. Either way, it's a solid entry into the challenge effectively demonstrating natural world texture. A possible top ten, certainly a top 25.
