Ovahimba Womanby gsalComment by gsal: This red paste in her hair is known as ‘otjize’ and is used as protection against the weather and a skin lotion. It is also rubbed on the skin and onto traditional clothing. When Himbas come of age at puberty the girls have many smaller plaits covered in otjize, like this girl. |
