Recurring Primariesby MalokataComment by Malokata: Thank you all for your comments, especially Heather and John. I didn't think this shot would be wildly successful, just because it doesn't sport the saturation that I knew would give the winners their edge in a color challenge. The colors are admittedly a bit washed-out, but that wasn't entirely unintentional...I wanted to give the impression of a laundry basket that was never empty, and always waiting there, and so I thought that evidence of overwashing might help that along (interestingly enough, the yellow shirt actually is that washed-out in real life - I've had it for years). You've made me see things that I didn't, though (and smell them - thanks, John) and I do appreciate your taking the time to comment.

I think this has a nice ring to it. I really love your floor. It's dreamy, and adds a lot to this shot. I wonder if you have a wide angle lens though cause the upper horizontal lines of the floor look curved a bit, like an arch.
The lighting is good on the floor, and the basket, but I don't think it adds much to the primary colors in the basket. The yellow is a bit washed out and the blue is almost totally hidden in the shadows.
Focus and clarity are great. I love the texture of the basket and the pattern on the floor.
Angle and framing/cropping look good. I think that a head on shot would not have had such an impact as this does.
Overall it has a really nice feel to it. I just wish that the colors stood out a bit better for the challenge.

Recurring Primariesby MalokataComment by jmsetzler: I wish this photo had scored higher... This is a nice 'mood' photo and it doesn't provide the tangible in-your-face wow factor that seems to be a requirement for high scores on dpchallenge.
I finally figured out what it is about this photo that I like... I think it stimulated my sense of smell when i looked at it... I actually think it made me smell clean laundry :) Great shot... |

Recurring Primariesby MalokataComment by dacrazyrn: Excellent lighting on this. I like the harshly lit area that contrasts with the immediate shadowed area. The colors look a bit muted, but with everything oversaturated these days, looks good. Looks like a JJ. (C: |

Recurring Primariesby MalokataComment by e301: By far the best of a really not impressive set of entries - geat lighting, though the slight over-exposure is a minor issue: that yellow's bleached out quite a lot, though obviously much shorter a shutter would perhaps have left the dark too dark. Texture on the basket is wonderful. |

Recurring Primariesby MalokataComment by kirbic: The lighting is fantastic. I love the comp as well. the dark shadow at upper left is a very slight distraction.
I wold have loved a very bright yellow item, and wish you had shown a little more of the red. Perhaps one of the items hanging over the edge? |

Recurring Primariesby MalokataComment by crabappl3: Nice crisp shot. The use of lighting is very effective in setting the mood. GOD I hate laundry! The perspective seems to be going down hill to the left to me. Perhaps a different angle would have lessened it. Good work. 7 -danny |
