Great shot (excuse the pun). Would have loved it more had the pistol been in focus too though...

Comment by darnok:
This is an awesome lightning shot, well done. You captured the strike perfectly. It is also nice to see detail in the clouds. I like how the cold colours in the sky contrast with the warm colours in the foreground. You should consider cloning out the leaves on the right of the image.

Minneapolis Skyline (HDR)

Comment by eschelar:
The biggest problem with this is that your lights are actually blown. Sadly, this is due to the lower dynamic range of a tiny sensor which resides in your digicam. HDR processing is much more effective when the RAW actually contains a lot more information.

A nice wide clear and crisp shot. The rippled reflections look awesome and I love the sky. If possible maybe try to get in closer to the taller buildings if you're in that location again. I'd love to see it.

I got a similar picture of a similar dragonfly, I tried a different angle to get a bit of its face in the shot, but wound up with the winds out of focus. I like how the entire dragonfly is in focus. Always tough to do for me when shooting small things that are as wide as they are long, normally I don't like straight-on top shots of insects because that's how we usually see them everyday but in this case it looks good. BTW the best time to shoot a dragonfly is as early in the morning as you can get with the sun shining brightly as they need to sunbathe to gather energy for the day =]

Great shot. It's really hard to get these nice and sharp. Nice color, but might want to boost the white level just a bit to brighten it.

I've always wanted to try one like this. I think you did a good job here in catching the motion. I think it needs to brighten up just a bit and I would crop the bright chrome strip more at the bottom of the shot. The only other thing you might fool around with is the depth of field...maybe not having the front rail in such sharp focus so that the viewer's eye goes more directly to the balls? Just an idea...but I think this is a cool shot.
