In this image the petals stand out so strongly I really don't care to see the bee. The detail and depth in the petals is mesmerizing. For me, the bee blends into the center (love the hues). Also really like the DOF. Love the B&W treatment.

In photoshop I desaturated the image using a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. I then created a mask on the Hue/Saturation layer. Using a soft brush (hardness=0) on the mask I brought the color back by just brushing over the bee and flower areas.

I also used several level/curves layers to adjust the contrast and selective color to tweak the color a bit. I hope that answers your question. If not let me know. Oh and thanks for the comments.

Just realised that this IS a reflected image! Amazing how attuned we are in scanning even animal faces: something seemed odd....but it took me a while for it to click. The effect works really well.
