A Goat's Taleby yankoComment by yanko: I thought about removing the selective desat but I wanted to include something positive in the image because this goat was rescued and the only way I thought I could convey that was with some color. The horns just seem like a good place to me but I get what you're saying. Message edited by author 2006-07-03 04:20:52. |

A Goat's Taleby yankoComment by Rebecca: Hi Richard-
This is a scary looking photo, and to be honest I didn't score it very high since it seemed to me more disturbing and frightening than desolate. Not that it didn't also meet that definition, but it wasn't the first thing that came to mind for me. Also, I don't think that photos that are difficult to look at as this one is tend to do well here. It seemed like a lot of the photos for Desolation suffered from meeting the challenge a little too well. The selective desat on this draws the eyes to the horns rather than to the face, so it's difficult to find a place to rest my eyes in this difficult to look at photo. |

flower.jpgby yankoComment by wavelength: Nic macro shot, I like the composition, and the duotone serves this well. I think fine-tuning the cropping here would help even things out, removing some on the right even though it would make it more rectangular. Also, consider sharpening the flower a bit more finely, there are some halo's around the centra part where it overlaps the white petals at the top. Overall a lovely picture. |
