Penetrating Energyby airdanceComment by Beach_mel: I really like the tones that you were able to produce! I agree with the commentors I would have really liked to see the "crispness" of the lemon, lemon just screams crisp to me *as my mouth starts to do the lemon thing* :-) great shot though. |

Penetrating Energyby airdanceComment by notonline: I like the backdrop being an off color compared to the lemon as it brings out the highlights in the lemon. I probably would have removed some or all of the seeds as I find them a tad distracting. I also have to agree with Makka that the focus is soft. Nicely done and very creative. |

Penetrating Energyby airdanceComment by Makka: Interesting lighting setup but it seems to work! My only gripe is that it looks a tad soft and the crop seems a bit cramped. The lemon colour comes out very well with the way you have arranged it. It's always fun I think to be inspired by another photo that you have seen! Well done! |

Diamond Dovesby airdanceComment by Balko: Interesting birds! The background doesn't do much for the subject though, and the second dove is too soft. Since they are yours, you can keep taking photos (like I do of my parrot :) ) |

Ali 2by airdanceComment by suemack: I do like this shot!! Your focus and composition are spot on!
Haven't done much work with bouncecards/reflectors myself, but think it would be worth trying different colours and positions of the reflector to see what effects you got. Have seen work done with both the white and gold (gave a lovely soft light)
edited to say....yep cardboard would do the trick Message edited by author 2005-08-04 05:16:54. |

Sunflowerby airdanceComment by taterbug: Nice shot. Good subject, very nice vibrant colors. Could be a tad bit sharper. Most photo editing should have some form of sharpening. In photoshop, the usm(unsharpmask) works very well, an awful lot of people use that tool, it gives you a lot of control over the sharpening. As tranquino said, an offset framing could work nicely, applying the rule of thirds, however, in this case I think the centered comp also works. I think it could perhaps be strengthened by a little cropping to ensure it is very centered, right now, the top and bottom are good, but the left side looks a little larger than the right. If it was all even, it might make the centered composition stand out stronger.
Looked through your pics, you seem to have a real good eye for composition and choosing good subjects. Looking forward to seeing future stuff. :-) |

Aliby airdanceComment by taterbug: This is a great composition. Lovely cat. I like her right side being in shadow, but would be nice with a little more detail in there. As well as what sdw65 said about lighting, another thing you can try if you're forced in brighter than what you want conditions is to underexpose a little. If your cam does bracketing, that's a good way to help judge the conditions. You can often bring out detail in editing from darker areas, but when it's blown out, that's pretty much it. |
