Black Sky Moon.jpgby renegade1966Comment by drewbixcube: Very clear and crisp! IMO needs a little more negative space to the right of the moon, maybe equal to what is above it. So it looks equa-distance from both top and right. |

IMG_1622.JPGby renegade1966Comment by escapetooz: Did you ask him to do that? It's cute but he seems a bit absent in the eyes, like he isn't really having fun.
I'd say with kids you gotta play with them, get them into it to where they are goofing around with you, and then try to capture them more naturally. |

IMG_1900.JPGby renegade1966Comment by escapetooz: agreed about the white background, but I'm sure it wasn't an easy shot. I'd say perhaps try cropping a tighter on the bottom. |

Urban Artby renegade1966Comment by posthumous: I agree with Melethia. You'll also get more interesting shadows at another time of day. And here I am being a focus nazi: this would be better in sharper focus, although maybe at a different time of day the softness would be a nice effect. It's good to get things as focused as possible, though, when you take the shot. You can always make things softer later, but you can't make things more focused! |

IMG_1622.JPGby renegade1966Comment by shalrath: Adorable! As a photo it's a little washed out (flash I guess), but with a pose like that, who's to care? Message edited by author 2006-09-07 10:54:32. |

Urban Artby renegade1966Comment by Melethia: You might want to try this one at a different time of day - this looks to be taken midday when the sun is very bright. I do understand that sometimes you have to shoot when you have the chance to shoot - but the "magic" light of morning and evening tends to render nicer tones and textures in most things. It is a very interesting structure! |

Two Bridgesby renegade1966Comment by Melethia: I quite like the composition of this! I like the one arch just above the other and I do like the sun captured here. To get a bit more blue (and if you're using Photoshop) you can increase the amount of black in both the blue and cyan using "Selective Color". You can also decrease the saturation of yellow a touch to whiten up the clouds a bit. |

Main Streetby renegade1966Comment by Melethia: I like taking this view of buildings, too. This is quite nice! You've got very good detail. With a touch more sharpening, the detail pops even more. You'll know you've overdone sharpening if you start to get jaggies at a 100% view or start to see "halos" around things. |

Moon Reflection.jpgby renegade1966Comment by klstover: I agree with jpochard's comment. The sky and the water just look so lovely and dreamy by themselves.. the foreground is not bad at all! just detracts a bit from the mystical quality of the other elements. The water looks like chrome - a really cool effect. |

IMG_3602.JPGby renegade1966Comment by klstover: This may possibly benefit from a tighter crop on the bottom. Also the perspective looks a bit off, like everything is tilted - try rotating. (Another thing to be careful of is how you are positioned when shooting - if you had stood right in the middle of the middle lines it may have not needed post processing to get the perspective better)
I like the lines showing the way towards the distance, and the vibrant colors. |
