Solitudeby akolaginiComment by DrAchoo: I thought there would be more Solitude pictures as it seems an easy thing to do. This is well done. Some techincal stuff kept it from a top score, but I gave it an 8. The sky has issues as well as the blown highlight on the lake. The duotone works. |

Solitudeby akolaginiComment by nsmith: Not much "personality" here, but I like the tone. I would have liked the tree more to one side or the other. |

Solitudeby akolaginiComment by ssan: It appears concept-pictures like this beautiful shot are not popular here. Straight into my favorites. I can look at this forever. Thanks for sharing. |

natural complementary colorsby akolaginiComment by HVGB_photos: Complementary colours are pairs of opposite colours that contrast strongly when compared to each other. The challenge called for two complementary colors to compose your photograph but in your photo I see purplish brown, dull yellow and bright green, as well as the reddish orange of the basketball. The addition of the extra colours dilutes the visual effect of tones of a single predominating colour against tones of its opposite or complementary colour.
I think your submission would have been a stronger demonstration of complementary colours if you had chosen a background that of a complementary colour to the red-oranges of the basketball, for instance, by photographing it against a blue basketball jersey, or a blue-green toned towel, to keep the sports metaphor.
Great closeup shot of the textures of the ball and the ground!
