Definitely agree with the symbolic heft. Less sure about the specific interpretation or tale attached, but yes, the picture screams out to have its story told even though it doesn't tell us exactly what the story is.

One sure quality that this picture has, which I thought around half of the entries lacked, is that it is immensely better for being in black and white. Colour would subtract/distract from both the emotive human content and the geometric symbols of the sailors' suits.

Pleased to see it.

Remarkable symbolic heft to this picture. The faceless sailors, facing into the past, where they have done their work to protect the society that this woman takes for granted. They do not seek her recognition, they are focused on their work. 7

This is interesting to me on a number of levels - for one, what the heck is PSFS? Makes no sense, unless you live in Philly, I guess. Second, I like the architecture, and third, what's the purple in the middle windows? Sky reflection? Whatever it is, it's cool!

I like the juxtaposition of the sailors against your subject. She seems a little washed out while they appear sharp. I think your focal plane was just behind her. Great reflections in the windows. Good overall exposure with wide tonal range.
