By the ballsby quiet_observationComment by RamblinR: Would have like to have seen the second ball slightly sharper. Maybe the first ball would have worked better. Nice shot and composition otherwise.9 |

Market Derbyby quiet_observationComment by jaysonmc: Hmmm, this shot gives me ideas. I love when a shot does this. With a long focal length, an extremely long exposure (5 seconds or so), and keeping the panning on the cart the whole time I bet this would be tremendous. High speed background motion, perfectly focused cart, blurrly legs.... I might have to try this. Probably take a few hundred shots to get the cart in sharp focus for that long of an exposure. Three different senses of motion. A little off the critiquing really but just rambling things as they come to mind...
Great ideas come from the simpliest photos.
As for the photo itself in this challenge, I think it was a great idea just a bit hard to sell to the motion panning voters. Exposure was good, angle was terrific, and the technique of panning was strong (but short lived). |

"One cannot look upon nature without being reminded of something peculiar and beautiful"by quiet_observationComment by noraneko: Even as I voted, I was reminded of Melethia's abstract pigeons, but thought it surely was a coincidence manufactured by my pointy little brain. But no - it was intentional, after all! Frankly the two photos would look excellent hanging in tandem in a little gallery somewhere. Deb's reminds me of whirling bits of Swedish glass, and yours reminds me of flying pieces of bronze and gold. It's the contrast in seeming weight and heft that make these two photos so interesting to me on a side-by-side basis. Anyway, love them both. |

On the edge of paradiseby quiet_observationComment by jaysonmc: Beautiful colors going on here. The lighting you captures is surperb. I love the lines you created with the grass it moves your eye throughout the frame but leads you to the upper right which circles distract a bit. Though I think that has more to do with the actual lens in this case, because I think the use of depth you were use was a good idea. Focus is great. A really nice capture. |
