Nick was right - Kerry & Edwards were best.by quiet_observationComment by nova: Ok now, no points deducted for agreeing with Nick ! Honest critique, however: I would like this better if there were more interaction between the people in the photo. True enough that it's a slice of life shot however... your photo does indeed communicate that! (5) |

Tangerine Dreamsby quiet_observationComment by bmartuch: Mary, nice shot and very nice detail. The idea is very clever but it just seems a little to washed out from the light on the top row. Really great idea. |

Tangerine Dreamsby quiet_observationComment by jaysonmc: I get it, it's a reflection, "the dream" part. Too bad it is a little too out there for voters. It is actually interesting to see the different angle of the orange in the reflection, it actually gives a good pause to the shot. |

Tunnel visionby quiet_observationComment by jaysonmc: I won't delve too much into the points others made (slight green tint and slight blur) which held the photo back as far as score. What really amazes on this photo, not sure if you did a crop or not, but the lines end almost perfectly at the end of the frames. Amazing the way it was composed (or cropped). Generally, at least what I find appealing, in highly organized shapes and architecture it helps to have the end point not so busy. I think if the hall wasn't cluttered it would help. I would be tempted to burn it out and see how it fars. Still as I mentioned perfect composition. Message edited by author 2007-02-19 01:45:00. |

Logan Squareby quiet_observationComment by SandyP: Mary, this is GORGEOUS. And I love the "city-life" touch of your Inquirer building being in the background. That is beautiful dreamy water! My favorite :)

Tunnel visionby quiet_observationComment by noraneko: Great lines and vanishing point. However, I have to agree with Jeffrey on this one; pretty hard to get a good shot in these conditions without a tripod. I don't know what the Nikon Coolpix capabilities are, but if the ISO can be turned up to 1600 or even 3200, grain might be better than the slight blur that's inevitable otherwise sans tripod. I don't know if the green cast was intentional - if so, please ignore - but if not, maybe consider changing white balance to fluorescent setting or bracket a few shots on different WB settings to see what works best. Finally, I think fill flash might have enhanced the foreground area, depending on how far your flash extends. |
