Wonderful chess photo. The positioning of the pieces and horizon makes this a very strong composition. I like the near perfect symmetry of the black pieces an their frosted finish causes a very nice subtle grey tone that also provides a nice transition from the black background to the bright tone of the chessboard (the fields are just visible).

Beautiful composition. Outer black border is pushing the limits of good taste but seems to work. I've never had much luck with borders so I keep them simple if anything. Would've liked just a hint more contrast in the image to make the highlights pop.

Good picture to fit the title. I like the lighting, the transluscent figurines, the composition and the reflection. Your border should have the same width everywhere though, it's quite distracting. If it were even it would look much better. 7.
