With this as your subject I think you have wasted a great opportunity. The shot here is a straight record shot with very little 'WOW' about it, but with a little planning and forethought this could have been a ribbon.

With low angled light and a closeup/wide angle the possibilities are endless.

They must be right "everything is big in Texas". I don't know if there is a better angle...probably not. There is so much going on in the shot that it distracts from the boots. I know you need a reference point for their size. I think you got the shot that was there, it just has way to much going on IMO. But I do like the boots.
