The Escape by DrAchooComment by Keith Maniac: I have edited the comment that I made yesterday (see below). I feel it was unneccessarily harsh. Sorry about that. |

The Escape by DrAchooComment by Keith Maniac: Great sharpness on the seed escaping the dandelion, and gorgeous green bokeh, too. I think the dandelion itself could look better, though, somehow. There's something about it that I can't quite put my finger on. It looks kind of stark, literal, and uninteresting. I think maybe it's the fact that the individual seeds of the dandelion all kind of blur together into one big white ball. We can't clearly see the individual seeds of the dandelion, as we can in Ursula's shot. But I realize that in shooting situations like this you kind of have to take what you get. It may take a hundred shots to get one with a nice sharp seed escaping, and what if the dandelion is less-than-ideal in that one shot? Not much you can do about it.
As another thought, I wonder how this shot would work if the dandelion were a bit farther back so that it was distinctly out-of-focus. This could enhance the sense that the seed has escaped from the dandelion and is moving away from it, kind of like Luke Skywalker flying out of the Death Star ;) It would also draw more attention to the lovely seed and less attention to the less-nice-to-look-at dandelion. Just a thought. Clearly, the voters like this shot just the way it is!
