Angles and Linesby madcrabberComment by kat75: I really like this. It's old, boring, quiet, black and white...but I love it! Fits the topic perfectly, as well! |

On the Sidelinesby madcrabberComment by jrtodd: Now here we have another fine example of ROT. You we very good to have this lighting and a better eye to take the photo. the little blue house in the background draws some attention but I understand if you didn't want to move it. 9 for now |

On the Sidelinesby madcrabberComment by Artifacts: Bright sunlight illuminating the sidelined football player is a good visual highlight selection. Makes the viewer wonder what the football player is thinking and feeling as he watches the game. Good capture of action for the background. Good lighting, no overexposed areas and good sharpness.
Centering the helmet on the lower left rule of thirds intersection point works for the challenge topic but not necessarily for the image itself. For this image, since the football player is the main subject, it might be better to center the whole player on the left vertical rule of thirds line rather than just the helmet at the intersection point. The far sideline acts a horizon. You might consider leveling that to true horizontal. |

Textured Colorsby madcrabberComment by ambaker: Critique Club Review:
I don't see the red rope as the subject, like some of those who commented. I do see it as a distraction. I love the color, texture and pattern of the main coil of rope. Focus and depth of field are great. You uswed the lighting to your advantage and you can almost feel the texture. However, I keep wanting to see what is behind the red rope. Less red, or no red I think might help things. As it is the red rope creeps in from the bottom and pulls the eye away. I think the other thing your score suffered from is having a picture that would have worked well in another current or recent challenge. Voters seem to vote lower when that happens. Not sure why. |
