there's lot's of competition with this type of image, so the standards are pretty high. it looks like this rose is a bit past it's prime, with browning edges on the petals. The shot is out of focus a bit (or was it deliberately soft?) and the lighting is not very dynamic. Keep at it...if you don't have a DSLR it is very hard to do closeups and macros.

Metal can be a tough subject. Especially with the harsh light of a flash. You might try using some softer light, and placing it above and behind the subject.

worn well - congratulations. Nice simple pic - effective - will probably be voted low due to size of pic. If you're Katie (it cannot be your ring) you've little to worry about. Diffuse lighting is better especially for reflective surfaces.

A little soft on the focus. Could use a boost of contrast to get the color to pop out better. Interesting perspective in a challenge full of simular shots.
