Broken Umbrellaby APComment by HeiSch: I tried to figure out what I don't like about the picture. But then I noticed that I spent a long time exploring it - exactly what you wanted, right? So guess it worked :) |

Broken Umbrellaby APComment by Paul: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: Stand-out post processing (a Nik filter?). The tilt works really well too. The main subject is compelling enough but for me the scene / environment is the star here.
Critical stuff: Not much at all.
Overall: An interesting and successful image. |

95th Birthdayby APComment by Paul: I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.
Positives: What a beautiful, sensitive, soft portrait. Utterly perfect toning and you have balanced sharpness with softness masterfully. I might have been tempted to be critical about the artefacts on the table but in reality they add context to the scene and transport us to the table.
Critical stuff: I think I might have been tempted to take the background a little lighter in post processing, but that's a personal choice thing.
Overall: Magnificent portrait image - I hope it scores well, it deserves to. |

Wonderby APComment by pineapple: I see you shot Ralph Williams (again!). He is hard not to photograph, being there most of the time... winter, spring, summer, and fall!

Blizzardby APComment by colorcarnival: I'm glad to see this on the top 10 page now. I thought it should have finished in the top 10 for sure. Love the stark contrasts of the lines of the trees popping out from the blowing snow. Beautiful capture! |
