Very effective presentation and composition. I like how the composition is closely cropped to show the viewer a vertical presentation of the scene. In this way the shape mimics the tall column and the plume of "smoke" that is rising in the air. Also, I don't know if this was planned for the shot or a lucky stroke, but those copper hued plants in the forground also have a vertical presentation in there natural shape. The colors of those plants adds a burst of bright and vibrant color to a scene that otherwise would make us think "cold". We see the image and with the whiteness of the snow and sky we are instantly made to feel the cold but that burst of color from the plants adds a bit of unexpected warmth to the scene. Nicely captured.

8 - Very nice, good use of color. Criticism; difficult as, as much as I like the fore 'grass' texture and color effect, just think if it were 'competing' less (especially for this Challenge) would make this even better in my opinion. Also difficult to tell, but seems the sharpest focus is on the mountain rather than the 'factory' (apologies if wrong there), so a shift in focus might have also made this better. An overall 'contrasting' type of feel to this shot, given the 'environment'.

Really like this shot. Good color contrast in front compared to the starker background. Maybe a little brighter would be good?

I like the way we can see the industrial plant surrounded by a natural environment. The muted colours of everything but the foreground trees works well. With the steam and the chimney mirroring each other it feels a little to centred horizontally for my preferences.
