The Enthusiastby cools98Comment by glad2badad: Oops! There's a whole lot of face showing here. It's a very intense and interesting image, I'll give it that. :) The challenge is to "show us the essence of a person" without showing their face. Disregarding the face issue, what does 'The Enthusiast' mean? I'm really not trying to be a smart aleck here...just giving some feedback on what questions this photo raises when I look at it. Best of luck to you in the challenge. |

The Enthusiastby cools98Comment by lowonenergy: Glad I didn't send my other photo, it looks a bit the same but different :)
But why does it show her face so clearly? |

Into the Abyssby cools98Comment by talj: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Composition:
I really like your composition here, the lines leading you to the blue glass at the top really helps this shot. The fountain works well against your choice of black background.
Technicals:
Firstly I would say this is more a close up than a macro and could be a reason why you didn't receive a better score. I like the light you have used and the capture of movement within the glass is nice.
My personal thought:
The challenge description said the subject should not easily be identificable at first glance. The thing I struggle with with this shot is had I not read your description I would still not know what I was looking at and I think maybe voters were looking to at least be able to make out the subject after one or two glances.
If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via the PM system.
