Eww! Great shot, too bad their munchin' on your rose bush! I know planting marigolds are supposed to keep something away, but I can't remember what! Good luck getting rid of them!

I like this shot and it looks like a natural expression to me, but you know her. Kids can be horrible for that - neither of mine will give me a 'real' smile - either they're frowning or they goof off. I finally found a way to get genuine happiness-in-front-of-the-camera smiles out of them though...wanna know my secret?....I get them to say something rude about me. Their favorite? Mommy smells like BOOTY! I just wait for the giggles to stop and then click away. A little demoralizing (especially considering the joy they get out of it) but i get my shot!

I triumph in the end...I think... ;-)

Ohhhhhhhh. . . .how I feel your pain about the aphids (but what a way to make green lemonade out of aphid lemons! The picture is very cool!!!)

We also battle aphids with every ounce of our warrior selves! My husband uses some insecticide spray on them that seems to keep them under control, but they are evil aren't they??? They just take over like the plague. But some roses are worse than others about getting them, so we ended up just getting rid of those and going with more bug resistant varieties.

this is cool, but so dark! if you shot it in RAW, you should be able to capture back a lot of the lost detail. the color on the bugs would be so vibrant!

OMG! Look at all those little bugs.. Ewwwwww! Ok sorry, now that this is out of my system. I like the dof used on the shot and the intense greens that were captured.
