Comment by Makka:
I can see Melethia's idea! This is an excellent shot and I love the photo and to see it 'jazzed' right up would be awesome.

Comment by Melethia:
It's apparent the sky is quite magnificent out there. This shot appears a bit murky, though. Not sure whether that's due to the length of exposure or perhaps the focal point or aperture setting.

Comment by Melethia:
I like this perspective better than the second one - has more interest to it even though it doesn't show the full outline of the boat - you can still tell what it is. A little "all the rage!" HDR and tone mapping would bring out the detail in the structure a bit more, or you could just try to select it and use levels maybe.

Colors are awesome in this! I love the gold/blue/almost bronze progression. Great composition, though I agree with mk that perhaps a bit of the bottom might be cut off - or not. Depends on how that balances the picture to you. Lovely shot!

I'm the opposite of your first commenter - I happen to think the shadows of the trees, particularly on the hillside, are quite interesting - then you have actual trees above that. I like it. Is the big thing casting a shadow your car? If so, you shoulda moved that. :-) Not sure what your aperture was - could be just a bit crisper in the trees.

Comment by mk:
I love this one. Great, very clearly defined silhouette and lovely colors. I think I might try cropping a bit off the bottom...about halfway up to where that first wave is coming in. Otherwise the bottom feels a bit heavy to me and draws my eye down there.

Might mighty king of the bush is he...
We learned that song when I was in girl scouts and I still think of it every time I see a picture of a Kookaburra.
Lovely nature shot, nice clarity and detail. I might try to use something to lighten him up a little - almost seems a little too dark on the bird itself.

Is this at the Sunshine Coast at Caloundra, Queensland. If so you have visiterd right on my door step, as I live in Caloundra, and only wish I knew you were here, as I would have loved to have met you.

Top shot here from an DPC Aussie member.
You have captured our beautiful kookaburra so very well, and this is a great image, that you should be very proud of.
Where did you take this just for interest sake.....
