Shadow Walkby ltaylorComment by olddj: think it would be better cropped more, maybe to the top of the red railing on the left, it looks much more impressive IMO |

Shadow Walkby ltaylorComment by tonyv: It seems to me that it may have been better to have taken this from the left-hand side of the walkway. Surely there was more to be seen down the walkway. |

Its Miller Time!by ltaylorComment by Pedro: *Critique Club*
Very nicely done. this is a really good picture on the verge of being a great one. the toning and cropping are excellent. not sure if you placed the boots or if you just found them that way, but it's very natural looking.
the use of directional sunlight also subtly speaks to the context as you infer it in your title. end of the day...fading sunlight etc. very nice.
on the more critical side, there are some blown out highlights as a few of the commenters noted. hard to say if it's this that causes the pixelation in the laces or if that's a product of some sharpening.
I like the harsh processing - lots of contrast and texture, but i suspect a *little* softer processing would have garnered you a higher score.
All said, it's a very good image, certainly deserving of the 6 it received. Well done.

Gnarlyby ltaylorComment by racb: Nice. I really like the blur. The house and cars in the background are rather distracting, though. |

Gnarlyby ltaylorComment by kena: A very nice photograph, thought some things look a little bit hazy. But the lighting is good and so are the colors. I think I would've liked it better if everything was in better focus. |

Gnarlyby ltaylorComment by sanx: I think there is too much grass in this photo, so I can't really see all that gnarly-ness. A bit too busy and unfocused. |

Gnarlyby ltaylorComment by KiwiShotz: This is a gnarly old beast isn't it. I wonder if there's too much in frame and if a tighter crop may have bought out that lovely dappled light and the strong texture in the bole of the trunk? There's a slight bluriness that I can't make out, is it camera movement rather than focus? |

Gnarlyby ltaylorComment by davmct: a bit too soft for my liking (although it seems that is what you were trying to do, its a bit much and difficult to focus my eyes on). also, dont like the cars and truck in the background of the tree |
