Physics...by ApeeComment by Rebecca: It took me way too long to figure out what was going on in this photo. My eye wants to focus on the white strip in the center, especially since it lookslike it has something dripping off the end. |

Physics...by ApeeComment by lynnesite: Is this a motion blur of a guitar string? I would have titled it differently. ;-) |

Physics...by ApeeComment by Keith Maniac: Nice tight crop. I think I would have cleaned the guitar first, though. Looks a bit crusty. |

Physics...by ApeeComment by locutus: I think this is a great idea, but this shot doesn't quite carry it off. The string just looks blurred, rather than in motion.
Maybe what is needed is a slow exposure under a strobe light, to capture the vibrating string more clearly (though still a little blurred, I'm thinking) at a number of different points in its oscillation. |

Physics...by ApeeComment by GeneralE: Nice ideaa! If, instead of using the shallow DOF, you picked one of the harmonic node points on the string, you could have everything in sharp focus except the string to either side of the node -- it would look like your middle string but with all the frets in focus. I think that would be an even better demo of the physics of music. |
