Alone with Me...by ApeeComment by klstover: *Critique Club*
Well, it didn't place high but I think you got a decent score! This is a very interesting poto and I'm happy to be able to critique it.
I think the main problem that you have is that the image is too busy. I love the lights, the buildings, the two figures, the whispy lines in the upper left.. I love every aspect of this image but I think when putting it all together it maybe leaves the viewer a bit visually confused or overwhelmed. Aside from being too busy, the composition is good, and I like the contrast between light and dark that is going on here.
I feel that the tracks are just fine in the prominance that they are... yes, the challenge is trains and railroads but the description says photograph anything to do with them, and your shot does that well.
Overall this is a great shot and I am glad that you decided to enter! |

Alone with Me...by ApeeComment by 2Shay: There is a bit too much glare from the lights which also causes a couple of light halos to the right of the smokestack/tower. I think I would have changed the POV to minimize the buildings in the background as I don't think they add to the composition. |

Alone with Me...by ApeeComment by tmhalling: I like the concept of this photo a lot and realize it must have been somewhat difficult to shoot. Good job although it would be nice to see a little more light on the person that is sitting. |

Alone with Me...by ApeeComment by glad2badad: It's interesting but I don't see how it has much to do with trains or railroads. The tracks are being used as a prop, not the subject. JMO of course. Good luck in the challenge. |

Have you ever think about it...by ApeeComment by cryingdragon: Greets from the Critique Club
This could be a very deep and emotive piece with a bit better lighting. I think if you had set some lighting off to the left side of the model, the shadows would help.
I think the editing on this works pretty well, as does the expression.
I do find myself drawn more to the door than the person for some reason. I think that it may be sharper or more in focus, or maybe it just interests my eye more.
This is a good photo and I think a bit of shadows would have thrown this over the top.
