If the fly and tips of the inner flower parts were in focus this would be more impactful, also the colors seem a little dull but might just be my monitor. Like the idea though, keep trying.

Wow... Your colors are really off in this shot. I' don't know how to fix this one. Maybe playing around with levels. You used the on camera flash to didin't ya. I think this could be much improved if you didn't use the flash and instead brought in other light sources. Move them around and experiment till you have good results...

A different backgournd would have helped this picture. Also if you pushed the soldiers down a bit more so that the flat plastic bottom was not visible it would have seen a bit more realistic.
