Early Morning on Planet Daydreamby tateComment by levyj413: Very nice as a piece of artwork. But I'm not sure about it as "photo." One of the things the SC encouraged us to do was to vote down things that didn't retain a photographic feel. So I've struggled all week with this one and the other entry that uses a round motif.
This one feels less like a photo to me than the other one, but the sky plays a much more important role here. I was originally voting a 5, but I'll bump up a point to 6. I realize that's not much, but maybe it'll make a difference in the final ranking.
I'd definitely suggest selling this as a really nice piece of art, though! That's why I'm adding it to my favorites. |

"My hands felt just like two balloons" Comfortably Numb, The Wall, 1979 by tateComment by adine: Wonderful! Very Magritte-like image: makes you ask, what? where? why? I like the balance of composition, the use of silhouette, and the creative use of plastic gloves! Nice mutted colors. I can't decide if I'd prefer the line of the shore to be parallel with the horizon, or if having it at a relative slant helps make the viewer feel unsettled - which is certainly the effect of the song! 9 |

"My hands felt just like two balloons" Comfortably Numb, The Wall, 1979 by tateComment by saiphfire: This is the most clever photo I've seen so far... how'd you get the "hands" to float in the air like that? String? Throw them? That having been said, There are a couple of problems w/ the photo. I feel it has been oversharpened b/c there is - I don't know what it's called - the little dots of noise in the sky. Also, the waves look a little "squared off," and the water is lighter in color between the legs, which is probably a residual from the sharpening. Finally, the picture gives me the impression of being tilted, even though the horizon is approximately straight, because the land is at an angle. |
