For me this is heavily over sharpened. I wish there was less contrast too. I really like their expressions and your composition though.

Wonderful capture of beautiful and unusual atmospheric conditions! I love the hint of pinks, blues and greens in the clouds and the subtle crepuscular rays. Perfect amount of haze on the land to boot. Outstanding!
