Initial thoughts
A sombre portrait, hence a little different to the norm.

Composition/ Content
I like much about the composition – the framing provided by the hat/ background, the tilted angle, the lack of distracting background. The chin feels a little hemmed in by the lower edge of the image though.

Contents-wise, seems like a straightforward portrait though the down-cast eyes mean that I don̢۪t feel any sense of connection with the model. Perhaps that was intentional to convey a certain mood but, from a viewer̢۪s perspective (or at least, a viewer who doesn̢۪t personally know the model) it serves to distance us. There̢۪s no sense of life in the image or any feeling of intimacy.

Technical
Even lighting and good contrast in the black and white conversion.
But feels very soft. This may be intentional but happens not to be a style I̢۪m fond of personally.

My Opinion On The Photo
This is a competent portrait but not ones that shines out for me, partly because it̢۪s not as sharp as I̢۪d like, but mainly because I don̢۪t feel any connection with the model.

lol We tried that. She wouldn't stay! She wanted to be in the middle like mom.

Thanks! This one definately showed the most character. The two in the back are expecting a baby next month. The two boys in the back have a neverending fight over who gets Mom. Mom just wants to be surrounded by her family. Daddy's just glad he can't see what's going on and the Babe. Well she's tickling her daddy... Little Imp.

I think the pose you have given each person works well and the overall flow works. I like that everyone is smiling yet the two in the back are "playing around".

Saw your post in the forums. People in the 'real world' drool over any flower shot with bright colors and halfway accurate focus. It's like waving raw meat in front of a hungry dog.
