Excellent DOF. Good collection of tools. B&W is a good choice here. My only complaint...I do not really like the measuring tape behind the sewing foot and needle. Even just moving it to the left in the empty space would make the picture look more balanced composition-wise. 8

Adjust the curves in Photoshop to lighten this picture and then add a bit of contrast. I find it amazing that you had the horse reasonably well in focus despite the 1/40th shutter speed, this would ordinarily be far to slow to shoot show jumping. Also the 2.8 should have put at least some of the background out of focus if you had used a longer focal length, say 200mm or higher. Pity about the busy background.
