This is a great creative twist on the challenge. Would have helped to pour out more of your granular subject. It is a little over sharpened. The hallows around all the sharp edges givev it away but I won't count off. 8.

This image seems a little hazy or flat-looking. Perhaps using the curves tool to increases contrast a little would help?
