Comment by GinaRothfels:
Great macro. Generally speaking I'm not too bothered about ants ever since I sat in the bath watching some of them revive another ant who had almost drowned. It was one of the most remarkable things I've ever experienced.

I swore I would have to stop looking at your pics or the desire for that lens would consume me. :/

That is one creepy looking bug, and a very good macro.

Don't weevils wobble but don't fall down? Sorry, I couldn't resist.
For those of you who are too young, there used to be a toy called "Weeble", I believe, and they would wobble but not fall down. Very effective advertising since I still remember it decades later.

Comment by TCGuru:
Weevils are often found in dry foods including nuts and seeds, cereal and grain products. In the domestic setting, they are most likely to be observed when opening a bag of flour although they will happily infest most types of grain including oats, barley and breakfast cereals. Their presence is often indicated by the granules of the infested item sticking together in strings, as if caught in a cobweb. If ingested, E. coli infection and other various diseases can be contracted from weevils, depending on their diet.

SERIOUSLY, if you have found one, you need to be very very SURE that there are no more. They can eat their way into anything (we brought them in in a bag of pecans one time) and they WILL multiply like CRAZY. If you find them in ANY of your food, throw it OUT. When you buy new, put flour and sugar and meal in the freezer or in plastic containers and put EVERYTHING else into plastic containers or in the fridge. Cat food, dog food, etc... as well. They are extremely destructive and very dangerous to your health. EDITED TO ADD: I suggest spraying around all of your food pantries, baseboards, and cabinets with a product called Bengal (use the gold cap). It leaves behind an invisible (and harmless to humans AND PETS) barrier that bugs CANNOT cross. They die.

GREAT shot!!!!! He/she looks very creepy but also cuddly in a freaky kinda way.
