Hello from the critique club!

This is a simple but interesting still life.

I really like the composition: The repeating pattern of the wedges and the finger holes of the slicer creates a pleasing and graphic image, that keeps the eye moving around the image.

The yellow and red of the apple works well against the white of the background and the slicer.

I would have loved to have seen more detail and texture in the apple: Your shallow depth of field has resulted in only one of the slices being in sharp focus. By using a much smaller aperture you would have brought all the wedges and their juicy texture into sharp focus, creating more impact and possibly a higher score.

Your wide open aperture has also led to the left side of the image being very high key, so that you have lost some of the detail on the left wedge. In contrast the right hand side is left looking grey in comparison. Experimenting with different apertures and lighting set-ups will help you determine the best settings for your images.

Imagine if you drizzled a little chocolate over it, with a few nuts and marshmallows tucked in the middle.

You captured the red on the apple really well. I think the inside of the apple is, in my opinion, not very appetizing. Perhaps it was too long before you got the shot? Also, it would have worked better for me if the slicing lines were cleaner.
