Cribbageby LadeeMComment by DustDevil: The glare or lighting is a bit harsh for my tastes in the top right corner. I would have liked to see a more "flat" point of view. I like the wood grain and the DOF on the pieces. I would have liked to have seen the pieces a bit futher away and maybe only 1-2 up close.
I think subjects like these are to personal tastes but I gave it a 6 while voting. |

Cribbageby LadeeMComment by suprada: I might be repeating what some others said...but here's my 2c.
The blurred peg is distracting. I did understand from your post that thtas how you wanted it to be. The problem is that its right in front, in the center of the image, and when you see the image, you tend to want to look at the in-focus peg ahead, but your eye keeps getting drawn to the out-of focus peg in a distracting way. It might have been better to rotate your image a bit in the anti-clockwise direction (while shooting) so that the blurred peg is not right in the middle and somewhere to the side, preferable on the rule-of-thirds line. |

Cribbageby LadeeMComment by tsheets: I agree with alfresco, a point of reference would be one thing to help establish your intent. I don't know the first thing about cribbage, so wouldn't understand that the one you focused on is in the lead. Also, the glare on the right is taking some attention away from the subject. A personal opinion...I often don't care for the closest item in a series being out of focus, and in this case, it's the most prominent piece taking up quite a bit of the frame. Not to be harsh, just trying to help relay what I see in this shot. Hope it helps. |

Cribbageby LadeeMComment by alfresco: For me I think it would help if the observer had a sense of direction, ie a reference as to where the pegs are with respect to the finish. I see this was the intent of the dof and oof peg nearest the observer, but it doesn't quite work without a reference point. Maybe a view with the pegs just on this side of the finish line, especially if the cribbage board had "finish" written on it. Then have a title like "Almost there" or "Two more to go" or some such.
Couple that with shiney pegs (someone else's suggestion) and see what the result is. Overall I like the photo, the lighting, the contrast.
(Edit for another title idea). Message edited by author 2005-08-04 21:35:24. |

Primary Colorsby LadeeMComment by Rikki: Sweet! A cobra! This is a fun shot with all the colors. Maybe a tighter crop would have been better. |
