Waiting....by barbaraanneComment by fadedbeauty: I like the feel of the image...just don't like the composition all that much. There is too much empty space around the subject and his placement in the frame is not ideal. Probably to keep it a vertical image it needed to be zoomed in more on the subject so he filled most of the frame...otherwise it could have maybe been beter to have made it horizontal with the subject at the left end of the frame. Actually, the most distracting element of the photo is the roof overhang. Since it is the lightest thing in the photo it attracts attention. Just the removal of the overhang would greatly improve things. |

Waiting....by barbaraanneComment by melismatica: Very nice mood that you've achieved here.Looks like 5 am--way too early for me.
I like the way the figure is subtly limned with light. I like the gradiation of shadow to light on the brick wall and the pattern created by the awning. Nice use of the foreground. You are going to lose points with the tech-heads over the grain/noise factor (I'm guessing you had to use a really fast ISO rating?) For me it adds somewhat to the mood. Where it really hurts you is in the very dark areas like his jeans where it becomes quite pixelly looking. Because of the noise factor, it looks like this wouldn't print too well -- a sad fact of digital photography. Nice job! |

Waiting....by barbaraanneComment by Rae-Ann: more window and less garbage can would have been nice, but a great shot...And one that actually fits the challenge IMO! |
