I love amber ... The lighting seems a little too harsh. I like that you used black to try to bring out the color of the jewels, but that bottom one seems to be reflecting too much light.

Heesh, the first shot I've done a critique on in some time and I get this one. Makin' my stomach all queesy! (I don't do blood very well...)

Compositionally, this shot is one where the centering of the subject seems to work fairly well. Focus is spot on and everything that needs to be in focus is. Your lighting is a bit harsh and not very imaginative. Technically an reasonably well done shot.

So the question is why didn't this do so well in the voting process. If I had to guess, I'd say a large portion of it may be your choice of subject. It is not 'eye candy' and doesn't have a lot of staying power IMHO. Nice job with the fake blood. You fooled me...

Cool idea, but I can see that you've inverted it. I have been wanting to try something like this, but in actuallity. Like getting the lighting so perfect, that certain spots are dark. Or a flashlight of darkness. Awsome shot though, way to be outside the box, inside the challenge.
