Composition works for me. There's nothing I find distracting.
Lighting: Too harsh for my taste. I think another light source just outside the top left corner would do wonders.

Not a very attractive shot, but technically pretty well done I guess. Lighting appears to be good. The underside of the tack is a bit dark, but nothing that distracts from the shot. Focus is maybe a little soft in places, but we can still see the texture of the thumbprints and the blood is pretty clear as well. The negative space is good for the subject. Helps balance the shot I think. I like how the hand looks like a snake coiled up. Odd observation maybe, but interesting non the less. Don't care for the subject matter, but like I said, technically ok. ~Heather~
