Good picture. I'd like to see a little more detail in the shadows of the trees. Other than that it's a nice photo.

Very nice shot. It appears to be just a bit on the dark side on my monitor. You might want to play around with cropping in a bit closer to the building. To me,it also appears tilted ever so slightly to the right. Love the blue sky.

::: Critique Club :::

Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.

First Impression - the most important one:
Seems more of a snapshot than an image that was thought out and composed, I think this is a candid, which is great, but in order to really make something of the shot you needed to capture what was realy happening, perhaps a closer shot of the kid lighting the candle .. not so much background and distracting elements.

Composition:
I think the this is ok .. but personally a close up of the kid may have been better as the other elements add little to the shot.

Subject:
With the title it meets the challenge but without it it doesn't say much. It is hard to convey to others the importance of what is taking place without the story for this image.

Technical (Colour and light):
Nice colours good lighting.

To grow its vote?:
Think about the crop .. maybe getting down on the ground to capture the actual event ... perhaps even having it so we can read one of the bottles.

Summary:
Good pic, well done.

If you've got any questions about this critique, please feel free to contact me via
the PM system.

Cheers

Kari

Comment by Dave Gordon:
This is a nice snapshot for the memory album, but it would be a lot stronger if you could see his face. Also I think it would be more effective if you got down to his level, rather than shooting down at him.
