A Pile of Peasby Buckeye_FanComment by taterbug: Greetings from the Critique Club.
This is your entry in the 'Peas!' challenge, it definitely meets the challenge, those are indeed peas. I like the color and luminosity you've brought out of the peas. I can see where you are going with the minimalist approach to the shot, and can appreciate that, but I think that in this particular case, all that space doesn't seem to be really serving a purpose or adding to the dynamics of the composition. I think it is just perhaps a little too much. Or perhaps a case of balance. I'm wondering if maybe less space and just one or two peas could of made for a stronger image, but the same basic concept?
Processing wise, like I said, I like your color, but something just looks a little 'off' as to the peas. Some commenters have touched on it. I can't tell for sure what it is. I am not sure what editing program you are using, I am not familiar with 'clarify' or 'dnr'. (I'm a cs2 person)
Anyways, you've got some nice shots in your port, I'm sure we'll see plenty more in the future.
If you have any questions or comments or anything, feel free to contact me.
Happy shooting,
taterbug :-) |

Fire Fallsby Buckeye_FanComment by jfriesen: Hi from the Critique Club!
I think this is a neat little image. The composition is very nice. I like how the flame flows, and how each flame adds to the next. The exposure is nicely done. Also, the subtle detail on the flame heads (matches??) adds a nice touch.
The background color could maybe use a change. The contrast between the fg and bg is interesting like it is now, but maybe a more contrasting color like black or blue might have added a little "umph" to this image. I like the "crinkles"
Overall, a nice image!

A Reflection of One's Selfby Buckeye_FanComment by Spitfyr: Nice shot. However, the challenge was to take a picture of the camera with the camera. This appears to be a picture of a camera taken with another camera unless you used a VERY large mirror. |

Fire Fallsby Buckeye_FanComment by LucidLotus: I like this composition for the most part. Love the way the fire drapes and flows. The different nodules (are those matchsticks?) add a nice bit of uniformity to the image that also helps highlight the more organic feel of the fire. I do not like the background. It distracts me from the main subject with all its crinkle and creasing. I don't mind the color, though maybe a cooler color of blue or green might have added a better contrast and might not have distracted as much. Not sure. I gave a 5 |
