Cold Mountainby StructorComment by Structor: The reason why my photo “Cold mountain” was disqualified is that I removed two small spots (I am told because of dust on the sensor) from the image. These spots have been a problem on my photos lately, but removing them does not change the photos a bit, so I thought I was not doing anything wrong by doing so in this case. It was not my intention to cheat or do something that is not permitted.
It is of course necessary to have rules in competitions like here on DPC, but it is my opinion that rules that disqualify photos on these grounds are not about good photography, but rather a stupid reason to get rid of good photos.
In all my challenges I have tried to do my best to follow the rules and also in this challenge, so I am not reconciled to this conclusion. In fact it did not cross my mind that I was doing something wrong by taking out these two little spots and was very surprised when the photo was disqualified.
Because of this experience I have had and probably many others I would suggest that these rules were changed. It would be nice to have some discussions about this matter.

The heaven Lightby StructorComment by L2: Returning for comment and bumping up. Composition is good, horizon line is properly placed and straight. Foreground elements add to visual interest; however, shadow detail has been lost. Nice colors in a good dramatic sky. As far as meeting the challenge, I believe it was supposed to include a single source of artificial light so in that regard I don't believe this particular shot meets the challenge as well as some of the other entries. Overall, this is a good shot. |

Continentalby StructorComment by Gauti: the silhouetted sculpture in the middle dominates this, and the side panels don't do much. nice how the frame continues on from the foundation of the sculpture. best of luck |

The heaven Lightby StructorComment by espy2: I scored this photo quite low because not only is this not an artificial light source, but I don't find the shot all that appealing because it seems that all of it is a bit out of focus. |
