Our Fatherby Man_Called_HorseComment by macrothing: 7 - This shot opens itself up to a variety of interpretations on what this is about/story it tells, in my opinion. Good and unusual capture. The gold, especially the candleholders in the background, add a good element. Criticism; not much, perhaps emphasizing that 'gold' (including the cross) 'somehow', a little sharper as well, not sure about the reflection on the temple/head, because that could add to 'stories' too. Perhaps a more refined cropping and as just mentioned, trying to gain a fraction more 'depth' and 'drama' overall in this shot, may have made this even better in my opinion. |

Lost Not Foundby Man_Called_HorseComment by Nospeak: Very interesting shot. The comp is beautiful, but the house and powerline elements are a tad distracting. The highlights on the edges produce a slightly 'oversharpened' look. The shot has a ton of potential, and I'm interested to see more work of the same design.

Lollipop Happinessby Man_Called_HorseComment by welcher: I was completely swamped during the voting for this challenge, and didn't have time to make a single comment. In fact, I'm letting my membership lapse for now, as I don't have the time to contribute to the site the way I should.
I like this one a lot. (I'm working to be a professional photographer, of children amongst other things, so this appeals to me.) Candid shots are the best, and this certainly qualifies. The only suggestion I might make is to leave a bit more negative space in there. That is, zoom out a bit on this one. The background is pretty interesting, and while it might overpower the girl, I think it might be worth investigating.
Love the oversaturated, overexposed look, too. |
