Framed by a friend by BrinComment by PenelopeK: Nice capture. Great subject, and the contrast of the mane against the coat, and both against the snow is lovely. Plus you got the subject looking at you. I find the "gap" on the left side a bit distracting particularly as the brightest area of snow is there drawing my eye to it. Perhaps cropping more off that side or darkening that area might have prevented that. Still, it gets a 7. |

Framed by a friend by BrinComment by dafletchr: Wonderful! Perfect timing, fantastic angle. I love those matted balls of snow, even under the jaw. It's a wonder they can stay warm. |

Partners IIby BrinComment by snaffles: Greetings from the Critique Club!
What are the odds that a professional horsewoman would draw this one to critique? Very interesting stance in the foreground horse, that rested hind leg indicates that he is at ease. At a guess I would say the b/g horse is a possible successor to the foreground horse, who to my eye looks quite a bit older. B/g horse looks to be younger and in much better weight.
Now onto the shot. Very dramatic pose, setting is amazing, and the camera settings are what I would expect to see in this situation. Lords-of-the-Rings quality to the shot. Would love to know if these are feral or domesticated horses.
Overall, how can I find flaws in a shot that I would have given at least an 8 had I voted? Even knowing it's been pp'd, I can't see it.
Gorgeous shot. Great work!
Feel free to PM me with any questions,
Susan |
